Aarambh / First step towards Financial Independence

An app that makes investing relatable and fun for Indian women

Through my project I set out to explore the intersection of financial empowerment and gender by addressing the hesitation and lack of confidence many women feel when navigating the stock market, especially in India. My inquiry focused on demystifying finance, creating relatable resources, and fostering confidence. Through immersive activities, engaging metaphors rooted in Indian culture, and insightful primary research, I aimed to empower women to view investing as approachable and something that's within their reach.

 

Aarambh represents a new beginning—one where women confidently take charge of their financial futures.

  • Design is not neutral / I realized how deeply financial tools and interfaces often reflect a male-oriented worldview, and how reimagining them through a woman’s perspective can change not just access, but aspiration.

  • Storytelling builds bridges / Real stories from real women helped me design not just tools, but emotional connections. Empathy isn't just a buzzword. I learned that financial empowerment starts when women feel seen and understood, not instructed.

  • Problem framing > solution rushing / The real challenge wasn’t teaching finance, but reframing finance as something women could see themselves in. This strategic shift unlocked more inclusive visual and verbal design choices.

  • Mistakes are not detours, they’re design checkpoints / When some of my early ideas didn’t land, I learned to embrace iteration. Testing, failing, and tweaking became a natural rhythm — helping me design with more clarity and confidence.
